Contents
Acetaminophen 250 mg, guaiphenesin 100 mg, phenylephrine HCl 5 mg
Indications/Uses
Temporary relief of symptoms of cold & influenza including headache, aches & pain, blocked nose, productive cough & sore throat.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Tab Adult & childn ≥12 yr 2 tab ≥4 hrly. Max: 8 tab/24 hr for not longer than 7 days. Childn 6 to <12 yr 1 tab ≥4 hrly. Max: 4 tab/24 hr for not longer than 3 days.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity; patients taking MAOIs or have taken w/in the last 2 wk.
Special Precautions
Liver or kidney impairment; high BP, heart disease, blood vessel disease eg, Raynaud's phenomenon, diabetes, overactive thyroid, glaucoma, pheochromocytoma, prostate problems. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Childn <6 yr. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, dizziness, nervousness, difficulty in sleeping, increased BP, nausea & vomiting.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant w/ other analgesics, antipyretic, cough & cold relief medicines. Prolonged daily use of paracetamol may increase risk of bleeding w/ warfarin & other coumarins. Medicines that control BP eg, β-blockers, appetite suppressants/stimulants, medicines for treatment of depression eg, TCAs (eg, amitriptyline), medicines for heart disease eg, digoxin.
